Cities can create such intense feelings from spot to spot, each with its own and different energy from the surrounding architecture. From walking around on lunch hour on a work day to walking alone at night. My work, featuring bold color and hard edge acrylic paintings explores depth and energy of urban architectural space. Creating surreal, abstract and almost futuristic environments from simple shapes and forms mixed with hard edges, gradients and perspective. Using perspective and bold color to represent the extravagance of the architecture, repeating forms to symbolize the the everyday repetition both good and bad. As well as hard edge vs smooth gradients to juxtapose the soft fickle creatures we are with the immensely dense and strong urban environment.
